Mumbai: SonyLIV’s new-age web show Chutzpah that marks the OTT debut of Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Outsider, showcases the relevance of internet and social media in everyone’s life, especially youth. Featuring Gen-X popular actors Varun Sharma, Manjot Singh, Gautam Mehra, Tanya Maniktala, Elnaaz Norouzi and Kshitij Chauhan amongst others, ‘Chutzpah’ gives a sneak peak into the digital transformation of human identity in today’s era.
The USP of Chutzpah is its never-heard-before concept in the digital world, as it talks about the duality that exists in the real and social world. One may have a different approach or thought process towards people in person but they project a completely different world to others on social media. The show highlights the good and bad of the web world and anonymity it provides, with people getting to know their type and finding empathy at the same time, also absolving them some sense of responsibility. The show brings to fore what today’s generation lives every waking moment of life with the internet!
Produced by Diensh Vijan, the show has been written by Amit Babbar and Mrighdeep Singh Lamba. Simarpreet Singh has directed the show and the concept is credited to Amit Babbar.
Ashish Golwalkar, Head – Content, SoyLIV & Sony Entertainment Television, said: “At SonyLIV, the idea is to keep churning content that’s interesting, engaging and entertaining. The advent of internet in India is sudden and enormous. ‘Chutzpah’ is a show targeted at today’s youth and makes some relevant points about the world of web with its riveting narration.
Producer Dinesh Vijan said: “At Maddock, we’ve always believed in creating unique and relevant content, and with Maddock Outsider, we’re glad to bring our unabashed love for storytelling to the web space. Chutzpah is a unique show that is tailor made for the social media generation that we all are part of. Venturing on this new journey with a platform like SonyLIV makes this debut even more special”
Actor Varun Sharma said: “The show is very close to me for a lot of reasons. Firstly, I am making my OTT debut with SonyLIV and also the fact that I have had a long association with Mrighdeep Lamba and Dinesh Vijan. Hence collaborating with them again was like homecoming. The story is very relatable and we thoroughly enjoyed the process of shooting the series.”
Actor Manjot Singh said: “The USP of ‘Chutzpah’ lies in the fact that it showcases a real world and relatable characters. I think such an interesting concept has not been explored in the digital world yet. The entire process of shooting the show was unique and memorable.”
An out-and-out entertainer, ‘Chutzpah’ will premiere on SonyLIV on July 23.
