Streaming major Netflix has introduced its user interface in Hindi to cater to the needs of its wide range of Indian users, who were using English till date to discover, access and watch films and series through the platform.
The whole Netflix platform now appears in Hindi, from the sign-up to search rows, collections, subscription and payments, in all devices. Users can switch to Hindi user interface from the “Manage Profiles” section which includes the Language option.
Each of the five profiles in a Netflix account can have its own language setting. There are now 27 languages to choose from, including Chinese, English, Korean, Japanese, Italian, Arabic, Turkish, etc.
The whole Indian diaspora can make use of this new feature. Netflix’s major rival platform Amazon Prime Video has already introduced its user interface in Hindi two years ago, followed by other Indian languages like Tamil and Telugu.
“Delivering a great Netflix experience is as important to us as creating great content. We believe the new user interface will make Netflix even more accessible and better suit members who prefer Hindi,” Monika Shergill, Vice-President of Netflix India, said in a statement.
This move may be aimed at satisfying the entertainment-hungry people in smaller towns and cities of India, thereby widening its network of users. Netflix has also introduced mobile plans of Rs 199/ month.
