It feels nice to stand out in the crowd: Ruchi Malviya on her role in Mukesh Jasoos

Originals OTT

Mumbai: Actress Ruchi Malviya is excited to have bagged one of the lead roles in Disney + Hotstar’s new show Mukesh Jasoos.  She was last seen in Flip, a series directed by Bejoy Nambiar streaming on Eros Now, and Alt Balaji’s show The Verdict directed by Ken Ghosh

Ruchi will be seen opposite actor Rahul Bagga who plays the role of Mukesh in the series. The trailer is out and is receiving a great response.

Ruchi Malviya will be seen playing the role of a social media influencer in this fun- and light-hearted comedy show.

About her role she said: “The character I play in this show is completely opposite of what I am in real life which made it more interesting for me to play it on screen. I play this girl who comes from a very humble background and is married to an extremely simple and down to earth man called Mukesh. She is a girl with big aspirations yet very innocent and vulnerable.”

Ruchi bagged this role during the pandemic, with an audition clip that she shot all by herself at home.

She said: ” It was a fairly long process, two rounds of auditions, one self-recorded and the other was at Humaramovie’s office. I was told that they considered quite a few influencers and other actors and almost about 1200 people were auditioned for this role. It really feels nice to stand out in the crowd especially for someone who has just started out”.

Poonam Dhillon plays the role of Ruchi’s character’s mother in the show and they had the maximum scenes together.

About her co-actors, Ruchi said: “It was a fabulous experience working with such talented and experienced actors. Just sharing the same screen space with Poonam ma’am felt enriching. Just watching her act and delivering her dialogues with such finesse was a learning experience. She never made me feel intimidated by her presence, infact she guided me a lot, fixed my hair sometimes too (chuckles). Rahul Bagga is phenomenal. He is always calm and composed. Scenes with him were a free fall, no holds barred approach. We improvised as much as we could. Rajeshwari Ma’am is such a wonderful person, she complimented me on my character and the way I studied and delved into it. She told me it’s refreshing to see an actor like me after such a long time.”

Mukesh Jasoos will be a 20-episode series, and will release on Disney + Hotstar on May 7, 2021. The show is a part of Disney + Hotstar new vertical called #DisneyPlusHotstarQuix
